Grupo Merza is a retailer operating in the Mexican grocery, supermarket and logistics sector, with 266 self-service stores, 27 wholesale distribution centres and employs 9700 staff across 30 Mexican states.

The retailer sought to improve its knowledge of merchandisable space and how to manage it.

Assessing Grupo Merza’s retail space planning needs

To begin the process, our Customer Success Specialist Richard Burford collaborated with Grupo Merza to define their retail space planning goals – and how StoreSpace® could help.

Primarily, Grupo Merza’s focus was on optimising merchandise distribution on the sales floor, for greater product rotation, improved customer experience and increased profitability per square metre.

In addition, the business sought effective communication of space planning decisions to in-store teams – crucial for timely and successful implementation and ensuring analysis of store layouts is accurate.

Next, after working with Grupo Merza to align their new processes, we assisted the team to implement StoreSpace®.

We worked with them as they migrated their floor plans and sales information to the software and provided on-site training.

StoreSpace® and NielsenIQ’s Spaceman are closely integrated enabling Grupo Merza to directly plan both their micro and macro space directly within their .dwg store plans, adding the planograms directly on to the available fixtures.
