Tilly Lee, CADS' HR Advisor

Tilly began her career at Prosper (formerly 3D Architects) in 2007 as an Office Manager, overseeing accounts, HR, and office management. When CADS acquired 3D Architects in 2009, her relationship with the business began.

Transition to HR role

In 2017, 3D merged with Tait Design to become Prosper, doubling in size. Following internal changes due to the COVID-19 office shutdown, Tilly transitioned into HR—a field that naturally aligns with her skills and passion.

Since then, Tilly has achieved a Level 3 HR qualification and is now in her second year of the Level 5 CIPD qualification. She is also a member of the Chartered Institute for Personnel and Development (CIPD).

Tilly has been working as an HR Advisor across CADS since 2022 and officially became a CADS employee in August 2024.

How does CADS support your training and career choice?

Aaron Wright, (Managing Director at CADS) has been very supportive of my drive to specialise in Human Resources. He has been instrumental in carving out and defining my role at CADS.

I have regular one to ones and mentoring which is invaluable to my professional development. I always appreciate feedback, whether good or bad, as it helps me improve and develop my professionalism.

Why did you choose to work in the tech industry?

For me, the tech industry is routed in innovation and provides clever and forward-thinking solutions for our clients, which excites me.

In your opinion, why is it important that more women become involved in the technology industry?

I very much believe in the equality of opportunity, rather than outcome. I believe anyone with talent, desire, and passion for tech should have the opportunity to work in the industry. Gender should never be a barrier. Diversity of professional and life experience can be a great benefit for any industry. Our recruitment practices provide an inclusive environment for this.

CADS' Careers

What advice would you give to a woman considering working in your industry?

My advice would be the same, regardless of sex. Work hard, be professional, kind, and a team player.

What do you think is the biggest issue facing women in your industry?

Realistically, there is always the usual pressures of the responsibilities that family life can bring, with motherhood and working being a tricky balancing act. More often than not, women shoulder the responsibility of raising children.

It is important to me that we, as an employer, provide flexible working and equal opportunities to all, and eliminate any professional barriers for parents and those with caring responsibilities.

What does International Women’s Day (IWD 2025) mean to you?

IWD 2025 is a chance to celebrate extraordinary women who have accomplished amazing things, such as Emmeline Pankhurst, a British suffragette who helped women gain the right to vote in the UK.
