Retail planners Kanok Dennis and Poppy Roll - interviewed for International Women's Day

Kanok Dennis, Retail Planner

Kanok joined CADS two weeks before the first COVID lock down, and amidst all of the turmoil in the outside world, she quickly got to grips with the world of retail planning. With a degree in Interior Architectural Design, Kanok applied her knowledge and expertise to help our clients deal with the massive changes in store..

Alongside the retail planning, Kanok also now supports our StoreSpace Customer Success team in demos and discovery sessions with live Thai translations.

Kanok was born and raised in Thailand, moving to the UK 5 years ago to be with her partner. Outside of the office Kanok enjoys cooking authentic Thai and Japenese foods, expressing her artistic nature with sketch drawing and photography.

Poppy Roll, Workstream Leader

Poppy is one of CADS retail planning workstream leaders, splitting her time between the day to day running of the Primark account – planning the layouts and customer flow in store; alongside a similar role for Sainsburys. Promoted to this role last summer, Poppy immediately travelled to Dublin and Reading to meet the Primark client teams to understand their ethos and requirements.

Poppy first worked for CADS as a retail planner while completing  her Interior and Architectural Design degree at Nottingham Trent University. She returned full time mid-pandemic and has not looked back.

When not at CADS, Poppy loves messing around on the water, enjoying paddle boarding and sailing on the Norfolk Broads.

Interview with Poppy

How does CADS support your training and career choice?

CADS has supported me in my role and career progression, allowing me to take on more responsibilities and new clients. They have also set up training courses to aid my development including a two-day leadership and management training course last December.

What advice would you give to a woman considering working in your industry?

Go for it! If it is something that interests you it is definitely worth exploring.

In your opinion, why is it important that more women become involved in the retail technology industry?

I think it’s important for women to feel they can go into any industry they have an interest in whether that be male, or female dominated. The main aim is for Women to not be hindered in their career progression, to see women in roles that are male dominated is essential for inspiring future generations.

What does International Women’s Day mean to you?

To me International Womens day is a day to not only recognise and celebrate the achievements of women, but to also raise awareness of the ongoing struggle for women’s rights worldwide.
